About Me:
Aloha, My name is Brandon Carvalho and I was born and raised on the island of Kauai in Hawaii. I lived in Hawaii until we relocated to Florida in 2007 with my Dad, Mom & older brother Michael, we get to go home to Hawaii for a few months a year, we are all still residents of Hawaii. I am 13 years old and attend a really cool cyber-academy called Elite Element Academy, I'm in the 8th grade. I am 5’5" tall and weigh in at 125lbs. When I'm not riding I'm usually working out, hanging out with my brother & my friends & playing video games, at GPF we also play basketball, volleyball & paintball with the other members. I'm also on myspace & facebook talking to my friends back home in Hawaii or friends I met at races. I love to ride and race, we ride practically everyday, but I wouldn’t have it any other way, even though I love going home to Hawaii I miss the racing in Florida when we’re gone. I plan on doing this as a career one day, that is my goal and I’m determined to reach it one day.
Racing:
I started racing in the 65cc Class about 5 years ago at our local track on Kauai. My parents found this amazing trainer named Randy Yoho in Florida and he started training us January of 2007, he improved our riding and racing so much. The level of competition in Florida is amazing, all the kids are so fast and that helps me to keep pushing myself, that's why we decided to leave Hawaii and relocate to Florida. In 2007 after our training, I competed in the Florida Gold Cup Series and came away with the championship in the 85 7-11 class and 5th overall in the Jr. Mini class. I also came away with a 3rd in 85cc 7-11 & 5th in the Jr. Mini Class at the 2008 Florida Winter AMs Series. We’ve been basing ourselves out of Florida since 2007 and have been fortunate to have been able to race in one of the most competitive areas in the nation. Unfortunately at the 2008 Mini Olympics i was going into my last moto in the MX mod class with a 3rd and on the last lap I broke my femur. I was finally able to ride again in April 09’. I went to the Regionals in both the Southeast & Northeast, but I did not make it to LorettaLynn’s this year. Since then I have been training hard to get back in shape and be ready for the new season of racing. This past summer we got to race and travel all over the country again, we went to Alabama, Tennessee, Virginia, Maryland and even to Michigan to race at the Baja Brawl which was awesome.
Training:
am a member of GPF in Georgia, so I have an awesome place to train. We work out at the gym Monday through Thursday and I focus a lot on my endurance and strength. Friday is a day off or a travel day when we race on the weekends, if there's no races we try to find something fun to do. I've had a few different trainers that have helped us get our training program together, I’ve learned a lot from each of them. We did Randy Yoho’s training program for 9 months, Ronnie Tichnor, Jeannie Carmichael and Kenny Campbell, they are all great trainers and I’m happy I got to work with them. I am currently training with Matt Walker and he's really helped me reach another level with my racing and training.
Goals:
My goal is to be more consistent at the races and try to place top 10 in the Schoolboy 1 & Schoolboy 2 classes. This is my first year on the bigger bikes, I know that's alot to expect but I feel that we have a great training program and I'm working hard to be physically strong and mentally focused. I know that if I can put it all together this coming year that I can do it.
