?? Cullin Park
My name is Cullin Park and I am eight years old. I am a Florida native. I ride a MetraKit MK 50 and a KTM 65. I began riding at the age of three. I received my first Honda CRF50 on my fourth birthday and began racing one month later. After my first race my dad said I should have been in a webble wobble class (if one existed) because he picked me up just as much as I rode. Needless to say, he was asking for oxygen after my first race. It didn’t take much time and I was riding right up front with the older kids. I started in the Beginner Peewee class in the 2006 season. I turned five that June and by August, I was winning the races in the beginner’s class and was moved up to the advanced class. I was the youngest rider in the advanced class and finished sixth place overall. In 2007 I qualified for the Loretta Lynn’s AMA Amateur National at the age of five. At Loretta’s I had the fastest lap time during practice and pulled the hole shot in the second moto, but ended up falling in every moto. I finished 6th place overall for this National race, being the youngest racer in the “Top 10”. 2008 was an amazing year for me for many reasons. One, I made it back to Loretta’s. I qualified in two classes: 51 (4-6) AMA 1 Stock and 51 (4-6) Stock Shaft Drive but could only compete in one class so I rode my Cobra and finished second overall. The most memorable part of 2008 was that I earned my first National Titles – three of them. The first title earned was at Lake Whitney and the other two at the Winter National Olympics (Mini O’s). Undefeated in both motocross and supercross, I received the Overall Olympiad Champion Award (1st Place Overall) for my age group.
In 2009 I moved up to the next age group, 7-8. The entire year seemed to be a learning experience for me as I was faced with many challenges from bike problems, wrecks and just plain bad luck. It began when I was qualifying for Loretta’s at the SE Regional. I was sitting in 6th overall going into the third moto when the chain adjuster screw stripped out causing me to DNF the race. I ended up having to go to three Regional qualifiers to make it to Loretta’s. My family is most important to me when it comes to racing. My Mom, Dad, big sister and big brother are my biggest supporters. I have many family members that call every weekend to hear the results from that week’s race. My Grandma and Grandpa, Nana, aunts, uncles, cousins, great-aunts and uncles come to watch me race and support me. When I am not riding on the track I enjoy watching and studying motocross videos, playing MX games on my PS2, jumping on my pogo stick, swimming and jumping ramps on my bicycle. I enjoy playing soccer and basketball too. I enjoy these sports because they are team sports and teach me to work with others and be a “team player”. I am a very respectful young boy. I have a winning attitude and understand there are ups and downs in racing and I show great sportsmanship, even during my disappointments. I am fully committed to riding since everything I do (eat, sleep and play) revolves around it. I am a fast rider and I like to win – but most importantly: “I think with my head” when I ride. I am a leader in school and in my extra curricular activities. I was the class President in the 2nd grade and was nominated for Terrific Kid in October 2009 for the character trait “citizenship”. I am a “Straight A” student. I have been taught that school comes first, to respect others and to always honor and thank God for what he has given me.
